Karvel Anderson drained nine 3-pointers and scored 38 points, Lucky Jones added 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, and Robert Morris knocked off St. John's 89-78 at Carnesecca Arena in the first round of the NIT.

Robert Morris improved to 22-13 and will play Belmont in the second round Friday night at 9:30 in Nashville.

Karvel Anderson had 21 points, all in second half, and Lucky Jones added 18 as Robert Morris overcame a brutal first half to edge St. Francis PA 60-57 and advance to the NEC title game.

Robert Morris opened the second half with a 15-2 run to turn a five-point deficit into an eight-point advantage and held on for a 60-57 victory over No. 6 seed Saint Francis U.

Lucky Jones scored on a put-back with three seconds left in overtime and Robert Morris beat St. Francis NY 71-70 to clinch the NEC regular season title for the Colonials. Karvel Anderson scored 31 for RMU.
